Between 19th – 25th June 2021 Squash Wales got stuck into National School Sport Week. Our regional development officers spent their time getting out and about delivering sessions, the biggest being at Garth Primary School. Check out pictures from some of the epic sessions below!
We’ve had a successful launch of school sessions since the easing of coronavirus restrictions this year, working with local squash clubs to bring our super sport to all areas of the community! The aim is to provide opportunities to all and encourage a new generation of squash players regardless of current experience and accessibility.
So far, we’ve reached schools in St Mellons, Maesteg and Wrexham. The programme has seen several sign up’s to our clubs with 8 members joining St Mellons and Maesteg in the last few weeks.
We are so excited to see what the future holds for our school’s programme in the next academic year and look forward to delivering more sessions, providing more opportunities for children and young people to give squash a go.
It’s been incredibly energising to see the commitment and progression from all pupils involved in schools programmes.
“The children were great and you could see the improvements over the two days. Lots of fun had by all the year groups.”
Coach, Sally Davis of Maesteg Squash Club
We’re starting to think our adult members are going to feel just as exhilarated when they get back on the court, as if it were for the first time all over again!
If this is something your club or school would like to be a part of, please get in touch with one of our RDOs.
