Sport Wales National Centre (SWNC)
Sophia Gardens, Pontcanna, Cardiff CF11 9SW

How much will Squash Camp cost?

£20 – £25 for the day

What age range is this aimed at?

6 – 13 year olds

When is Squash Camp?

10am – 3pm on Wednesday 16th April & Thursday 24th April 2025

Can my child come to both sessions?

Absolutely – the sessions will be run in a very similar structure, but we would love to welcome your child on both days over the Easter break.

Does my child have to have played squash before?

No, not at all. Squash Camp is a great chance for your child to try out squash.

Can I drop my child off?

You’re more than welcome to stay and watch or leave them for day, safe in the knowledge they’ll be looked after by Squash Wales’ trained coaches.

Is lunch provided?

We ask that children bring a packed lunch and a bottle of water (no nuts or peanuts, please). There will be a water refill station and fresh fruit available throughout the day.

What should my child wear?

Trainers and clothes they can stretch and run around in comfortably.

Is this a one-off?

No, we’ve run a few of these previously and hope to run lots more! We’re hoping to run sessions every school holiday.

What will my child be doing?

Below is a general idea of what we will be doing during the day.  It’s a day aimed at all abilities with a focus on games and having fun.

  • 10am: Sign in & Introduction
  • 10:15am: Warm-up and games
  • 10:45am: Basic skills, hand-eye coordination, and movement
  • 11:15: Basic racket skills
  • 11:45pm: Games
  • 12pm: Lunch
  • 1pm: Warm-up and games
  • 1:15pm: Basic shots & movement
  • 2pm: Cooperative and competitive games
  • 2:30pm: Tournament
  • 3pm: Finish
My child is a bit nervous about not having played squash before – will they be ok on the day?

On the day, the children will be put into groups of similar levels of ability – so there’s no reason to be concerned about that.  Our coaches are highly experienced at working with children of all ability levels – so as long as your child is keen to get active they will have a fantastic day.

What are the next steps after the Squash Camp?

All children who come through the Squash Camps will be eligible for a one year child’s membership to Squash Wales worth £7.50.  This will provide insurance and other benefits if they would like to continue playing squash following the day at the camp.
