RHIWBINA SQUASH & RACKETBALL CLUB.
Hello! I’m delighted to share with you an article highlighting the recent Round 2 of the Squash Wales Junior League, which took place on Saturday, July 15th at the Rhiwbina Squash and Racketball Club. This event brought together 9 teams, each consisting of 3 players, to compete in a thrilling display of junior squash.
The participating teams included Newport Juniors, Cardiff Juniors, Neath & Swansea, Merthyr Puddlers & Barking Dogs, Bridgend Ravens & Bulldogs, and the host club, Rhiwbina Racers & Rockets. The league’s primary objective is to provide a competitive platform for junior squash players in their respective regions, allowing them to represent their squash clubs.
The level of play showcased during the event was truly fantastic, with all players demonstrating their skills and competing fiercely in a fun and supportive environment. It was heartening to witness the participation of numerous new players, a testament to the excellent work being done by local coaches in their respective clubs.
Each team and player had the opportunity to engage in four matches, leading to an exciting final between Merthyr Puddlers and Swansea/Neath. In a closely contested match, the Puddlers emerged victorious with a 2-1 win, securing the title of Round 2 champions.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all the players, parents, and coaches who made this event possible. Their support and dedication truly made this festival of squash a resounding success. We would also like to express our appreciation to the Rhiwbina Squash and Racketball Club for hosting the event and providing free courts, which helped remove barriers to participation.
Lastly, a special thanks goes to Rich Wright for his exceptional organization on the day. His efforts ensured a smooth and enjoyable experience for all involved. We eagerly look forward to the upcoming rounds of the Squash Wales Junior League and the continued support from the club and coaches. On this day, it was clear that squash emerged as the ultimate winner.
