The first-ever Squash Wales Junior One-Day Event took place at Swansea Tennis & Squash Club, marking an exciting milestone for junior squash development in Wales. Organized and run by Greg Tippings and Sally Davis, the event attracted 32 players who competed across four graded categories based on skill level.
For many participants, this was their first taste of competitive squash, and the event was structured to ensure a positive and inclusive experience for all. Each player competed in three matches within a three-hour schedule, providing equal court time and ensuring a compact, parent-friendly format.
As National Coach, I was delighted with the success of the event. Providing opportunities for juniors to experience competition is essential for nurturing the next generation of squash players. The enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and effort displayed by all participants made the day a resounding success.
