Masters

A huge congratulations to the Wales Women’s O65s team, who successfully retained their Masters Home Internationals title in Cardiff to complete an incredible hat-trick of victories following previous successes in 2024 and 2025.

Represented by Lynne Davies, Jill Campion, Sian Johnson and Fiona Curthoys, the Welsh side once again demonstrated outstanding quality, resilience and team spirit across a weekend packed with high-level Masters squash.

Strong Opening Against Scotland

Wales opened their campaign on Friday evening against Scotland in a closely contested tie.

Sian Johnson recovered from a slow start to claim a composed 3-1 victory, before Jill Campion was narrowly defeated 3-2 in a high-quality battle between two former World Masters champions.

With the tie level at 1-1, captain Lynne Davies stepped onto court and delivered a crucial 3-1 victory to secure a 2-1 win for Wales.

Wales Continue Momentum Against Ireland

Saturday morning brought another excellent team performance as Wales defeated Ireland 3-0.

Sian Johnson again opened strongly with a 3-0 victory, Jill Campion followed with another important win, before Fiona Curthoys battled through a tough five-set encounter to complete the clean sweep.

Decisive Victory Against England

The final afternoon match against England would decide the title, with both teams entering the tie unbeaten. What followed was one of the matches of the weekend.

Fiona Curthoys produced an outstanding performance to defeat reigning British Open and Closed champion Lesley Sturgess in a thrilling five-set encounter.

Jill Campion then showed incredible composure after falling two games behind, battling back to win 3-2 and secure the title for Wales.

With the championship already decided, Lynne Davies completed a perfect afternoon for Wales with another hard-fought five-set victory to seal a memorable 3-0 triumph over England.

Champions Once Again

The victory means the Wales Women’s O65s team have now retained the Masters Home Internationals title for a third consecutive year — a fantastic achievement and a testament to the strength of Masters squash in Wales.

Captain Lynne Davies praised the spirit of the weekend, highlighting the competitive matches, great atmosphere and support from organisers, referees and host venues throughout the event.
