The Squash Wales Karakal Welsh Junior Open took place over the weekend of 5th–7th September, welcoming more than 130 players from across the globe. From home-grown Welsh talent to competitors from Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, the home nations and beyond, the event was a truly international fixture on the European Junior Circuit.

A particular highlight for Squash in Wales was the strength of entries from our own players. The Boys’ U11 event featured 10 Welsh juniors, a hugely encouraging sign for the future of the game.

A Successful Weekend of Squash

The tournament delivered fantastic squash and a brilliant atmosphere throughout, with players competing in a highly competitive yet respectful manner. The commitment and passion from the players, coaches, and supporters were clear to see, making it a memorable start to the new season.

A huge thank you goes to the referees, who worked tirelessly across the weekend, as well as to our excellent venues: the National Squash Centre at Sport Wales and Rhiwbina Squash Club.

It was also fantastic to see so many Welsh juniors from all corners of the country taking part. This is a testament to the dedication of local clubs, coaches, and parents who continue to support our young athletes on their squash journeys.

Finally, a special thank you to our sponsors – Karakal, SquashSpeed and Lasers Are Us – for their continued support in making this event possible; and to the National Lottery for ongoing funding and support in all of our activities.

A great start to the season, with plenty of exciting squash ahead!
