The very first Welsh Wheelchair Open took place on Saturday 13th September 2025 at Rhiwbina Squash Club, marking a truly historic moment for squash in Wales. This was the first-ever wheelchair squash tournament to be held in the country, and it represents a huge step forward in making the sport more inclusive and accessible.
The event brought together 8 pioneering players who competed across two groups, with playoffs to decide final placings. The level of determination, skill and passion on display throughout the day was nothing short of inspiring, and every match showcased just how exciting wheelchair squash can be.
Congratulations to Paul Preece, who emerged as the inaugural Welsh Wheelchair Open Champion! Paul’s performance throughout the day was outstanding and set the standard for future competitions.
