Wales Women’S O55 Masters Home Internationals Report For Edinburgh 2023

The 2023 Welsh ladies over 55’s team welcomed the return of Heather Charles at number 5 and the new Welsh capped Fiona Curthoys, at number 3.  They were joined by Sian Johnson (number 4) and Jill Campion (number 2) to play at the Edinburgh Sports Club.

Friday night, the team played the host nation, Scotland.  In a close battle of games and matches we lost it 3-2.  Heather Charles held her nerve and won 12-10 in the 5th game and Jill Campion lost a very close battle 3-2.  I made it very nerve wracking for the supporters by going down 2-0 before finally pulling the games back to win 3-2.

Saturday morning, the team played England and again lost the match 3-2 with some excellently fought games.  The team were determined to put everything into the final match and successfully beat Ireland 5-0 without dropping a game securing a well-deserved 3rd place.

Well done to all players for their excellent team spirit, determination and the wonderful comradery that Masters Squash brings.
