David Evans

The early part of my career I was a professional squash player who reached a career high World Ranking of 3, along with helping Wales achieve a runner up position at the World Team Championships. I have represented Wales as a player at 4 Commonwealth Games along with playing for Wales over 100 times at major events. The highlight of my playing career was winning the prestigious British Open Event in 2000.

After retiring from professional squash, I took up the position of Director of Squash in Jersey a position which I held for 5 years. I then returned to Wales and took up the role of Senior High-Performance Coach for Wales. The highlights of my role during this period were Tesni Evans winning a Bronze Medal at the Commonwealth Games in Australia, Tesni winning back to back British National titles and achieving a career high World Ranking of 9. Joel Makin beating World number 1 Mohammed Shorbaggy and achieving a career high World Ranking of 9. We also got both the Senior Men’s and ladies team promotion to the top group in the European Team Championships.

I took up my current role of Performance Director in March 2019 and I am looking to ensure Wales continue to achieve World level results from U11 through to the Senior teams.
