Squash Wales Masters Committee Unveils New Captain Selection Policy for Masters Home Internationals, Prioritising Early Preparation and Transparency.
The Squash Wales Masters Committee (SWMC) has finalised two new policies for the Masters Home Internationals (MHI) to ensure fair selection and maximise team preparation starting with the 2025-26 season.
1. Early Captain Selection: Captains will now be selected in the autumn immediately prior to the upcoming MHI. This provides leaders ample time to actively promote domestic tournaments and organise the team throughout the season. Captains are chosen based on commitment, organisational skills, and conduct. 2. Merit-Based Team Selection: The new policy combines automatic qualification with discretionary selection:
- Automatic: Players who finish in the top two places of their category in the respective season’s WMC earn an automatic spot.
