Nottingham Masters O65 Ladies winner Wales.
That has a nice ring to it! We were really pleased to come away as winners of the inaugaral O65 trophy. The team was Jill Campion,Sian Johnson{capt} and Lynne Davies. It all began on Friday night against England. First up was Lynne Davies against Sue Pynegar. It was a close fought battle with two tie breaks Lynne winning 13/11,11/7,12/10. We were off to a good start! Next up was Jill Campion. Jill was up against new cap Julie-Anne Pegram. It was a hard fought battle with Jill winning 3/1.With the match won, I went on to play Lesley Sturgess. I fought back from 2/0 down to take it to a fifth, but narrowly lost 3/2.
Saturday morning saw us kicking off against Scotland. Lynne began with a convincing win over Maureen Carroll 11/3,11/8,11/5.Next on was Jill against Pauline Douglas. Jill was on form and won in straight games 11/5,11/6,11/6. Match won, it was down to me to make a clean sweep, which I did, beating Eunice Bond 3/1.
Two wins out of two and Ireland Saturday afternoon. Things were looking good. We all played really well each winning our game. Jill beat Maureen Duke 3/1, I played Mary O’Duffy and won 3/1 and Lynne beat new cap Gay Grant 3/0.
We had won the event without the games having to go to countback.
I want to thank Jill and Lynne for their efforts and making it such a brilliant weekend!
