The Welsh U15 & U17 teams took part in the recent European U15 & U17 Mixed Team Championships that took place in Prague from 11 May to 14 May. The Welsh Under 15 team performed exceptionally well, finishing in 6th place despite being seeded 11th. The team consisted of Aled Davies, Archie Davies Clarke, Reuben Davies, Nia Seran Thomas, and Madalena Sidoli. The Under 17 Welsh team also did a great job, finishing in 11th place despite being seeded 14th. The team consisted of Erin Patterson, Jamie Silvester, Louis Stephens, Mille Breach, and Megan Beynon.
The coaches, Greg Tippings and Sally Davis, were immensely pleased with the teams’ effort, commitment, and unity as Team Wales. The preparation was key to the success both teams achieved, and a big thanks to Mark Harris, Greg Tippings, and Sally Davis for helping prepare the team both in squads in Preparation Squads and at the event. The players really did perform above their standard to achieve these results.
Special mention goes to Erin Patterson for winning his first cap and performing so well at number 1 string against the best players in Europe. Archie, Erin, Megan, Nia, Jamie, and Mille all won vital deciding rubbers for their respective teams to win vital matches for the team to progress. Overall, it was a fantastic trip, and the Welsh teams should be proud of their achievements. Well done to all!
