Joel Makin and Tesni Evans have created history within Squash Wales becoming the first male and female players to be ranked inside the top 10 in the latest PSA World Squash Rankings at the same time. Tesni Evans has been a regular inside the top 10 being ranked number 9 for the last 12 months , while Joel Makin makes his debut appearance at number 10 on March 1st Ranking list. What a way to celebrate St David’s Day for Squash Wales having both Tesni and Joel inside the top 10.
Joel’s form over the last few years has been remarkable and achieving a top 10 World ranking is just reward for all his hard work and determination he has shown. Only in December 2019 Joel led the Wales senior team to a bronze medal at the World Team Championships in Washington. On their last two meetings Joel has also beaten the current World Champion Tarek Momen again evidence of his unbelievable form. Squash Wales Performance Director David Evans said “This is remarkable for Squash Wales to have both Joel and Tesni ranked inside the top 10 in the World. Joel has been so close and knocking on the door for some time so to finally get there is a superb achievement for him, although I feel there is still more to come.”
To crown a superb month on the PSA World Ranking list another Squash Wales player Emyr Evans also achieved a career high world ranking of 106 following his runners up finish at a recent PSA event in Canada.
