Home Nations Squash Masters O75 Captain’s Report. Nottingham April 2026

Venue:- Nottingham Squash Rackets Club.

Accommodation Centre:- St James Hotel.

O75 Team:- Jon Phillips, Jeff Angove, Chris Barker, Stephen Evans

After settling into the plush accommodation of the St James Hotel and familiarisation of the 8 courts and facilities of the Nottingham Squash Rackets Club, the Wales team faced the formidable England trio of top world ranked players at O75 level on Friday evening. Although the result was in little doubt, the team put up a spirited fight in preparation for a very busy agenda on Saturday.

A very early start against Scotland and an intense winning battle in the afternoon against Ireland resulted in Wales O75 team coming 3rd in the overall tournament.

Every team member can be proud of their effort and contributed points, with special mention to Jon Phillips and Chris Barker on winning matches.

Award presentations and acknowledgements were expressed after an excellent formal evening meal, at the Park Plaza Hotel on Saturday evening. Congratulations to the Wales Ladies O55 and Wales Mens O35 teams both  achieving Tournament Runners-Up in their categories.

The weekend concluded with a hearty and robust evening of music and dancing, meeting and renewing old friendships among the four nations.

My thanks to England Squash Masters, tournament organizers and Wales Squash Masters for administration and support.

My thanks to the team for their effort and team spirit. To be playing at this level at O75 representing your country, is a great achievement. Thanks also to wives, families and friends of Wales O75 team who travelled and supported us in preparation and during the tournament.

Stephen Evans

(Captain Wales O75)
