Squash Wales, in partnership with England Squash and Scottish Squash, is delighted to announce the formation of GB Squash, to oversee the organisation and preparation of Great Britain’s squash players for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
GB Squash has been created specifically to coordinate and manage British representation for squash’s Olympic debut in 2028. The organisation’s sole remit is the selection, preparation and support of athletes competing for Team GB at the Olympic Games.
The formation of GB Squash reflects a collaborative commitment by the three Home Nation governing bodies to provide a clear, focused and unified structure for Olympic competition, while preserving the independence and existing responsibilities of each nation within the wider squash landscape.
In the coming weeks, GB Squash will begin recruitment for its Chair and three independent Committee Members. These roles will play a critical part in establishing strong governance, strategic oversight and support with team selection as preparations begin for LA 2028.
Preparation for LA2028 is gathering pace and with the Olympic Qualification System announced yesterday, GB Squash athletes can now focus on the five possible routes to qualification. Hosted at Universal City Zone, the iconic Universal Studios Lot is one of the world’s most recognisable backgrounds used in countless films and television productions.
The Gold medal will be contested by 16 of the world’s highest ranked men and women competing in individual draws.
Speaking on behalf of Squash Wales, Richard Bennett, the Squash Wales Chair said “This is a very exciting time for our sport and I am delighted that alongside England Squash and Scottish Squash we have been able to announce the formation of GB Squash for the upcoming LA28 Olympic games.
“GB Squash are genuine medal contenders and I look forward to watching our Welsh athletes competing to earn a place in the GB Team.”

Mae Sboncen Cymru, mewn partneriaeth ag England Squash a Scottish Squash, yn falch iawn o gyhoeddi ffurfio GB Squash, i oruchwylio trefnu a pharatoi chwaraewyr sboncen Prydain Fawr ar gyfer Gemau Olympaidd Los Angeles 2028.
Crëwyd GB Squash yn benodol i gydlynu a rheoli cynrychiolaeth Prydain ar gyfer ymddangosiad cyntaf sboncen yn y Gemau Olympaidd yn 2028. Unig gylch gwaith y sefydliad yw dewis, paratoi a chefnogi athletwyr sy’n cystadlu dros Dîm Prydain Fawr yn y Gemau Olympaidd.
Mae ffurfio GB Squash yn adlewyrchu ymrwymiad cydweithredol tri chorff rheoli’r Gwledydd Cartref i ddarparu strwythur clir, llawn ffocws ac unedig ar gyfer cystadlu ar lefel Olympaidd, gan gadw annibyniaeth a chyfrifoldebau presennol pob gwlad o fewn y tirlun sboncen ehangach.
Yn ystod yr wythnosau nesaf, bydd GB Squash yn dechrau recriwtio Cadeirydd a thri Aelod Pwyllgor annibynnol. Bydd y swyddogaethau hyn yn chwarae rhan hanfodol wrth sefydlu llywodraethu cadarn, goruchwyliaeth strategol a chefnogaeth gyda dewis timau wrth i’r paratoadau ddechrau ar gyfer LA 2028.
Mae’r paratoadau ar gyfer LA2028 yn ennill momentwm a gyda’r System Gymhwyso Olympaidd wedi’i chyhoeddi ddoe, gall athletwyr GB Squash ganolbwyntio nawr ar y pum llwybr posibl at gymhwyso. Yn cael ei chynnal yn Universal City Zone, mae’r Universal Studios Lot eiconig yn un o gefndiroedd mwyaf adnabyddus y byd i gael ei ddefnyddio mewn ffilmiau a chynyrchiadau teledu dirifedi.
Bydd 16 o ddynion a merched uchaf eu safle yn y byd yn cystadlu mewn gemau unigol i gystadlu am y Fedal Aur.
Wrth siarad ar ran Sboncen Cymru, dywedodd Richard Bennett, Cadeirydd Sboncen Cymru “Mae hwn yn gyfnod cyffrous iawn i’n camp ni ac rydw i’n falch iawn ein bod ni, ochr yn ochr ag England Squash a Scottish Squash, wedi gallu cyhoeddi ffurfio GB Squash ar gyfer Gemau Olympaidd LA28 sydd i ddod.
