Karakal Welsh Masters Open 2025 – Tournament Report

11th November 2025

Masters

The Karakal Welsh Masters Open 2025 took place in Cardiff over the weekend of 8–9 November, bringing together a strong field of more than 60 players from across the Home Nations and further afield. This year’s event welcomed competitors not only from Wales, England, Scotland and Ireland, but also from Germany, France, Spain and the Czech Republic, giving the tournament a truly international flavour.

Hosted at the Sport Wales National Centre, matches were played to a high standard across all age categories. The level of competition was excellent, with players demonstrating skill, experience, and the trademark spirit of Masters squash: competitive on court, supportive and social off it.

The decision to run the event entirely over two days ensured a busy and energetic atmosphere throughout. Courts were full from the opening matches each morning, and spectators were treated to competitive battles across every draw. The intensity grew as the tournament progressed, with a number of close five-game matches and dramatic finishes keeping players and supporters engaged to the very end.

A special mention goes to Cardiff Squash Club, who generously opened their bar to players on Saturday afternoon and evening, creating a relaxed and enjoyable social space for those staying overnight in Cardiff. This added to the community spirit that is a hallmark of Masters squash.

Our thanks go to:

  • All players for their commitment, sportsmanship and enthusiasm
  • The referees, whose support ensured the smooth running of the tournament
  • Karakal, for their continued partnership and player support
  • Sport Wales National Centre, for hosting the event
  • The National Lottery & Sport Wales for ongoing funding and support in all of our activities.

The Welsh Masters Open continues to grow in strength and reputation, and we are proud to welcome such a diverse and passionate group of players each year.

We look forward to seeing everyone again at future Masters events in Wales.

Diolch / Thank you,
