U11 Development Tournament Report

11th March 2026

Uncategorised

Following the launch of the new Squash Wales U11 National Development Squads, the first U11 National Development Tournament was held at the National Squash Centre in Sophia Gardens, Cardiff.

The event proved to be a fantastic success, giving young players the opportunity to compete in a fun but competitive environment, an important step in their early development within the Welsh performance pathway.

A total of 27 players took part, with 15 boys and 12 girls competing throughout the day.

🏆 Girls Champion: Clara Martin (Cowbridge Squash Club)

🏆 Boys Champion: Anders James-Martin (Merthyr Squash Club)

This tournament marks another exciting step in building the future of Welsh squash. Players will now look ahead to the Spring and Summer National Development Squads, along with two further tournaments planned before the start of the new season in September.

These young players represent the next generation of Welsh squash, and we look forward to seeing many of them progress to represent Wales at junior and senior level in the years ahead.

A big thank you to Chris Powell, Bronte Wright, Mark Harris and Bevan Duff for their work as National Squad coaches, and a special thanks to Rich Wright for organising the tournament and helping get the U11 squads off the ground.

We are already looking forward to the next squads and tournaments!
