Squash Wales are excited to announce that the inaugural Welsh Wheelchair Open which will be taking place at Rhiwbina Squash Club on the 13th September 2025.
This will be the first ever wheelchair squash tournament in Wales, and it’s a key milestone in our mission to make squash more inclusive and accessible to everyone.
We spoke with Richard Plenty from Rhiwbina Squash Club about how they have found preparing for the tournament and what adaptations have been made to the game.
In addition to this, we have put together an animation to help people who are considering taking part in the tournament, or learning to play Wheelchair Squash generally, which can be viewed on YouTube here:

You may not feel this is for you, however if there is someone you know who would be interested in taking part, or any groups you are involved with that would be able to spread the word – we would welcome any and all attention in getting the message far and wide to promote the tournament.
