The Karakal Welsh National Championships 2025 took place at Swansea Lawn Tennis & Squash Club over the weekend of 13–14 December, with the event receiving excellent support from players, officials, and spectators throughout the weekend.
Squash Wales would like to extend a big thank you to Swansea Lawn Tennis & Squash Club for hosting the Championships. The venue provided a fantastic setting for Wales’ premier domestic squash event and the atmosphere across the weekend reflected the importance of the occasion.
The Welsh Nationals represent the pinnacle of the domestic calendar, offering players the opportunity to be crowned Welsh Champion. This year’s Championships took on added intrigue following the withdrawal of Wales’ world number 4, Joel Makin, through injury, opening the door for a new men’s national champion to emerge.
Men’s Events
- Men’s D: Alex Meredith defeated Craig Bluck
- Men’s C: Daniel Evans overcame Alfie Wheeler
- Men’s B: Ollie Cann edged a closely fought final, defeating Archie Davies Clarke 3–2
- Men’s A (Championship Event):
World number 78, Emyr Evans, produced a commanding performance in the final, defeating Owain Taylor 3–0 to secure his first Welsh National title.
Women’s Event
The women’s championship was contested between Tesni Murphy (world ranking 22) and Lowri Roberts (world ranking 101). Tesni Murphy once again demonstrated her quality on the big stage, winning the final to claim another Welsh National title.
The Championships marked a historic first for Welsh squash, with brother and sister Emyr Evans and Tesni Murphy both crowned Welsh National Champions in the same year — a unique and proud moment for the sport in Wales.
