Non-Executive Marketing and Communications Board Director

We are seeking applicants with documented skills and significant experience in Marketing and Communications to complement our existing skills-based board. 

About the Role

This is a non-salaried, non-executive director position. Travel and other reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed for attendance at official meetings and events on behalf of Squash Wales. The time commitment varies month to month in line with the squash competition and event calendar, but is typically hours rather than days. Four board meetings are held annually, three being virtual and one (normally September) held in Cardiff. The initial term of office is 3 years.

The successful applicant will take an active role in the review, development and implementation of a marketing and communication plan that complements the Squash Wales strategy, and take a strategic overview of the activities of the employed staff and external communication agency.
Using their experience and skills, the marketing and communication board director will play an active role on the Board, they will work with other Board members, as well as advising the Operations Manager and Performance Director to manage Squash Wales with excellence and assist with the delivery our strategy.

The successful applicant will be a strong leader with business acumen, who recognizes how sport and physical activity contributes to society and the health and wellbeing of individuals.

Previous board experience is not essential. We welcome applications from candidates who have not previously served in a board role but who can demonstrate the skills and competencies necessary to contribute to Squash Wales’s strategic objectives.

Knowledge of Squash is not an essential requirement for the role.
